Paul Simon Schmidt is the Office Manager for Claudia Moll, Parliamentary State Secretary to Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius. In this role, he is involved in matters concerning Germany’s overall defence within the context of national and allied defence.

He earned his Master’s degree in International Relations and Contemporary War at King’s College London with a thesis on the influence of Russian and Soviet hybrid warfare on modern warfare.

Closely connected within Berlin’s security policy networks, he serves as Deputy Head of the Security Policy Working Group of the Young German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) and as Deputy Chairman of the Foreign and Security Policy Association for Parliamentary Staff of the German Bundestag. Additionally, he is actively involved in the Society for Security Policy (GSP), where he helps contribute to the security policy debate. He is particularly interested in the use of wargaming as a method for political decision-making, the development of a strategic security culture, and its impact on political education. At the German Wargaming Center, he contributes a parliamentary perspective to help design innovative scenarios and formats that support democratic resilience.
